GenAI Fuels Enterprise Analytics Progress in Brazil

Enterprises generate growing value from data by using rapidly evolving new tools

alongside traditional AI technologies, ISG Provider Lens™ report says

SÃO PAULO–(BUSINESS WIRE)–
Enterprises in Brazil are making significant advancements in the use of AI as their data management and analytics capabilities mature, according to a new research report published today by Information Services Group (ISG) (Nasdaq: III), a global AI-centered technology research and advisory firm.

The 2024 ISG Provider Lens™ Advanced Analytics and AI Services report for Brazil finds companies are beginning to use generative AI for some analytics use cases, even as traditional AI retains a major role in their data toolkits. Debate over the risks of AI has shone a spotlight on the importance of data-based decision-making and data-driven efforts to remain competitive, making Brazilian businesses more mature users of the technology.

“Many companies in Brazil have been lost in a sea of information, struggling to turn raw data into valuable insights,” said Kathy Rudy, head of the ISG Data, Analytics & Technology Office. “They are using the power of advanced analytics to make better use of information, often in partnership with consulting and services providers.”

Large and midsize enterprises in Brazil are adopting a range of data science solutions offered by providers, including demand forecasting, preventive maintenance and anomaly detection, the report says. Increasingly, these solutions incorporate GenAI. Even traditional sectors not known for using advanced data analysis, including law firms, are beginning to recognize its transformative potential.

Organizations are using GenAI in image recognition, customer sentiment analysis and data transformation tasks such as converting voice content into text, ISG says. The technology can also bring non-technical employees into the analytics process with GenAI agents. These enable business professionals to generate automated graphs and answers without complex calculations by navigating data using natural-language interfaces.

Data governance and management is becoming increasingly important to companies in Brazil as they work to become more efficient and comply with legal and security requirements, the report says. Often, their data is trapped in silos and scattered across different systems on premises and in the cloud. Data mesh architecture, which makes information available to specific areas of the business based on access controls, data quality, legal compliance and other factors, has become the guiding principle for data modernization.

Enterprises carrying out data modernization in Brazil are served by a growing number of service providers, including new companies focused exclusively on data and analytics. Many of these firms have partnerships with hyperscale cloud and data platform companies and are especially focused on serving the midsize enterprise segment.

“The Brazilian market has companies at many different maturity levels in terms of data and analytics,” said Jan Erik Aase, partner and global leader, ISG Provider Lens Research. “Each has unique strengths and challenges, which makes selecting a qualified consultative partner essential.”

The report also examines other analytics and AI trends affecting organizations in Brazil, including the use of knowledge graphs to make GenAI agents more explainable and the growing interest in FinOps services to improve financial management of data operations.
