Leveraging Orange Business Services’ Flexible SD-WAN portfolio, SITA Connect SDN allows multiple airlines, ground handlers, and other tenants to access the same virtualized infrastructure in the cloud, delivering more scalable and agile connectivity. This drives greater cost efficiencies and supports the airline industry’s drive to migrate applications to the cloud.

Unique in its conception, SITA Connect SDN leverages the existing AirportHub, SITA’s pre-connected connectivity platform already deployed in almost 600 airports worldwide and available to airlines globally. Sydney International Airport, Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport, and Zurich Airport are among the 60 airports that have already been upgraded to the ultra-fast SD-WAN network that is currently being rolled out to cover the vast majority of all airline destinations.

This solution’s agility and scalability also address unpredictable passenger and aircraft traffic volumes amidst the COVID-19 pandemic in a cost-effective, more flexible way. Through SITA Connect SDN, SITA can provide on-demand bandwidth while optimizing costs by utilizing multiple transport technologies in an application-driven network, with real-time visibility and control over the network.

SITA Connect SDN further reduces the cost of running a global network environment by making dedicated hardware platforms redundant while leveraging internet connectivity. Capital expenditure is reduced by cutting down on expensive network hardware upgrades with technological advances largely confined to software upgrades.

David Lavorel, CEO SITA AT AIRPORTS & BORDERS, said: “SITA Connect SDN is a technological innovation, leveraging state-of-the-art, future proof technology to serve our industry needs. In addition to the cost-optimization and scalability that are so important to airlines in the current market, we expect with this new technology, airport and airline applications will move to the cloud en masse while increasing automation.”

Anne-Marie Thiollet, Vice President, Connectivity Solutions, Orange Business Services, said: “Through our long-standing partnership with SITA, we have delivered technologies and innovation to the air transport industry since 2001. When we started this project at the end of 2019, we could not imagine just how critical flexibility and connectivity would become in the industry. We are confident that this evolution – leveraging the full potential of SDN technologies – has come at the right time.”

PR Newswire

NEW YORK, Nov. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ —  Pomerantz LLP announces that a class action lawsuit has been filed against JPMorgan Chase & Co.  (“JPMorgan” or the “Company”) (NYSE: JPM) and certain of its officers.   The class action, filed in United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and docketed under 20-cv-05590, is on behalf of a class consisting of all persons other than Defendants who purchased or otherwise acquired JPMorgan securities between February 23, 2016 and September 23, 2020, inclusive (the “Class Period”).  Plaintiff seeks to recover compensable damages caused by Defendants’ violations of the federal securities laws under the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 (the “Exchange Act”).

If you are a shareholder who purchased JPMorgan securities during the class period, you have until December 23, 2020 to ask the Court to appoint you as Lead Plaintiff for the class. A copy of the Complaint can be obtained at www.pomerantzlaw.com. To discuss this action, contact Robert S. JPMorgan purports to operate as a financial services company worldwide. The Company operates in four segments: Consumer & Community Banking, Corporate & Investment Bank, Commercial Banking, and Asset & Wealth Management.

The complaint alleges that during the Class Period, Defendants knowingly and/or recklessly made false and/or misleading statements about the Company’s business, operations, and prospects.  Specifically, Defendants made false and/or misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that: (i) traders at the Company, with the knowledge and consent of their superiors, manipulated the precious metals market by “spoofing,” or placing fake orders to generate the appearance of market demand; (ii) the Company had insufficient controls and compliance protocols to enable it to identify and stop the misconduct; (iii) the Company’s earnings in the physical commodity market were, at least in part, ill-gotten; (iv) such conduct would result in enhanced regulatory scrutiny; (v) the Company provided misleading information to Commodity Futures Trading Commission investigators at early stages of the investigation into the misconduct; (vi) resolution of the governmental investigation into the Company would foreseeably result in a significant fine; and (vii) as a result, Defendants’ statements about its business, operations, and prospects, were materially false and misleading and/or lacked a reasonable basis at all relevant times.

On November 6, 2018, the Department of Justice (“DOJ”) announced in a press release that former JPMorgan precious metals trader John Edmonds pleaded guilty to commodities fraud and spoofing conspiracy.

On August 20, 2019, the DOJ announced that another JPMorgan employee, Christian Trunz, pled guilty to spoofing charges, and had done so with the knowledge and consent of his supervisors.

On September 23, 2020, Bloomberg reported that the Company was nearing a settlement to resolve the spoofing charges.  According to sources, the settlement was to be for a record of nearly $1 billion.

On this news, shares of JPMorgan stock fell $1.53 per share, or approximately 2%, to close at $92.74 per share on September 23, 2020.

Cancer research, corruption and sabotage feature in a new medical story based on the author’s real-life experiences

‘The Last Rose of Summer’ by Mary Austin shows a dark side of the drug industry

BLOOMINGTON, Ind., Nov. 18, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — After young cancer researcher Mary Austin discovered a breakthrough drug that could change chemotherapy, the drug industry suppressed the breakthrough and transformed her life and career forever. Inspired by her life, Austin has changed names to protect identities in her new novel “The Last Rose of Summer” (published by Archway Publishing).

As a young pre-med student at Cleary University, the soon-to-be physician, Mary Austin, discovered a remarkable, non-toxic drug that could offer tremendous hope to cancer patients. A drug company became involved shortly before her work’s publication, and suddenly sabotage and death threats rendered further work impossible. Years later, her beloved mentor allowed her to recreate the work, but she found out as he was dying that her drug stock had been sabotaged again, preventing her once more from publishing the results.

Austin hopes her book makes people think and consider “That there is a drug that might really help cancer patients which has been suppressed. Also, if this drug has been suppressed, what else might be out there?”

Susan Keefe of The Columbia Review offers praise for “The Last Rose of Summer” saying: “Throughout this compelling novel the reader is transported into another life, the life of a young woman passionate about people, and saving lives. Through her eyes we get a fly-on-the-wall glimpse into what it is like being a med student, working in large hospitals and laboratories, and we also get a tiny inclining into the internal ‘politics’ which abound in the medical profession at all levels.”

About the Author

Mary Austin is a pseudonym for a doctor who gave up first her research career, then a career as a board certified pediatrician, and finally her personal safety, rather than participate in suppressing the discovery of a cancer drug that may be of great benefit to patients. “The Last Rose of Summer” is Austin’s first book in her upcoming series.

Book presents a new method to study and interpret history written under ideographs

Lee Mosol, M.D. MPH announces the release of Ancient History of Korea: Mystery Unveiled. Second Edition’

FAIRFAX, Va., Nov. 18, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — “This is my fourth book related to Northeast Asia (NEA) under the same theme that I chose. The theme evolved in the process of searching for the root of ethnic Korean and trail of migration over 20 years. While searching the historical records, it was apparent that Korean scholars had very limited access to the records and couldn’t involve the essential elements that is the interpretation of the archaic ideograms,” Lee Mosol, MD, MPH states.

In “Ancient History of Korea: Mystery Unveiled. Second Edition” (published by Xlibris), Mosol presents a new method to study and interpret history written under ideographs and defined that history is the mother of all sciences and liberal arts. He went one step further and emphasizes that not the written records alone, but reasoning is an essential element in the forensic science and study of Northeast Asia history.

“Though Chinese history has that the legendary Gija (箕子) went to Joseon at the end of Shang dynasty (商朝; c. 1046 BC) and came back to the west Zhou within few years, no one has yet confirmed the birth place of Joseon. Korean had used the standard method of studying history, but couldn’t find it,” Mosol says. “He convinced that Chinese concealed the facts and spread out false information. Korean used a wrong method to find facts concealed by the criminals. He applied a new methodology with a series of syllogism and found out the root. The founding father of the Ancient Korea conducted the epic flood. The mobster killed him and declared the Xia dynasty in the birth place of the Yellow River Civilization. They buried ancient Korean History.”

When asked what he wants readers to take away from his writing of this book, Mosol answers, “To make them realized that old Chinese scholars spread false information. They have committed a crime. Anyone dealing with ancient history of Northeast Asia ought to approach as a forensic scientist. The ancient scriptures of Northeast Asia should be interpreted with common sense, awareness and logic all together.” For more details about the book, please visit https://www.xlibris.com/en/bookstore/bookdetails/807864-ancient-history-of-korea

LONDON, Nov. 18, 2020 /PRNewswire/ — Clarivate Plc (NYSE:CCC), a global leader in providing trusted information and insights to accelerate the pace of innovation, unveiled its list of Highly Cited Researchers™ 2020 today. The highly anticipated annual list identifies researchers who demonstrated significant influence in their chosen field or fields through the publication of multiple highly cited papers during the last decade. Their names are drawn from the publications that rank in the top 1% by citations for field and publication year in the Web of Science™ citation index.

The methodology that determines the “who’s who” of influential researchers draws on the data and analysis performed by bibliometric experts and data scientists at the Institute for Scientific Information™ at Clarivate. It also uses the tallies to identify the countries and research institutions where these scientific elite are based.

The key findings for 2020 show:

  • 6,167 researchers from more than 60 countries and regions have been recognized this year.
  • Whilst the United States continues to dominate the list as the home to the highest number of Highly Cited Researchers, with 2,650 authors, representing 41.5% of the researchers on the list, its relative share of the list continues to decrease (44% in 2019).
  • Harvard University, home to 188 researchers is once again the institution with the highest concentration of Highly Cited Researchers in the world. Its neighbors – the Broad Institute and Massachusetts Institute of Technology – join them towards the head of the list of leading global institutions – homes to 61 and 53 Highly Cited Researchers respectively.
  • Mainland China’s place on the list continues to surge – it is now the home to 770 (12.1% or 1:8) researchers on our list – up from 636 or 10.2% in 2019. Its rank has been boosted by the remarkable entry into the top ten of Tsinghua University, Beijing, moving up 10 places from 19th to 9th on the list together with the arrival in 2020 of Peking and Zhejiang Universities into the upper echelons of the list.
  • Singapore shows strongly, represented by Nanyang Technological University and National University of Singapore.
  • Europe also has its fair share of good news. The numbers of Highly Cited Researchers based in Germany and the Netherlands have risen this year – both showed a drop last year. The Max Planck Society in Germany remains at number 5 on the list of institutions whilst Utrecht University (27 researchers) and Wageningen University & Research (24 researchers) in the Netherlands both moved up to the top tier of universities listed. The Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics flew 20 places up the institutional rank with the addition of a dozen Highly Cited Researchers this year.
  • This year’s list includes 26 Nobel laureates, including three announced this year:
    • Emmanuelle Charpentier, Max Planck Unit for the Science of Pathogens, Berlin, Germany (Chemistry);
    • Jennifer A. Doudna, University of California, Berkeley, United States (Chemistry); and,
    • Reinhard Genzel, Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics, Garching, Germany and University of California, Berkeley, United States (Physics).
  • Also included are 66 Citation Laureates™: individuals recognized by Clarivate, through citation analysis, as ‘of Nobel class’ and potential Nobel Prize recipients.
  • A total of 3,896 researchers are celebrated for their performance in the 21 Essential Science Indicator™ (ESI) fields, and 2,493 for cross-field performance, for a total of 6,167 unique researchers – as some truly extraordinary Highly Cited Researchers appear in more than one ESI category.
  • Of the researchers named as Highly Cited in the 21 ESI fields, nine researchers showed exceptional broad performance, recognized for being highly cited in three or more categories. They are a truly global group – in North America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
  • Australian research institutes continue to punch above their weight. In a country of just 25 million, the number of researchers recognized in 2020 is 305. Australian research institutions appear to have recruited a significant number of Highly Cited Researchers in recent years while also increasing their number of homegrown talent.

David Pendlebury, Senior Citation Analyst at the Institute for Scientific Information, said: “In the race for knowledge, it is human capital that is fundamental and this list identifies and celebrates exceptional individual researchers who are having a great impact on the research community as measured by the rate at which their work is being cited by others.”

Joel Haspel, SVP Strategy, Science at Clarivate: “Our analysis shows that the primary contribution to global scientific papers and advancement is being driven by the US and China. The story this year is about both countries’ research success. The USA remains the scientific powerhouse of the world. China’s progressive stance towards research and development over the past two decades has delivered highly cited, high-impact papers, increased international collaboration and translated its research into valuable intellectual property and innovation.

“As Chinese researchers have been encouraged to productively engage with the global research community, the US has been the primary destination for international students seeking advanced degrees as Chinese students form the largest number of international students in the US. Their success and futures are inter-twined.”
