MIAMI
, March 26, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel, a boutique hotel in the heart of South Beach’s Art Deco District, has unveiled the complete transformation of its signature restaurant,The Social Club. Inspired by the effortless charm of the French Mediterranean, this reimagination blends coastal sophistication with Miami’s vibrant energy, offering a refreshed aesthetic and an elevated culinary experience.
With a renewed vision, Executive Chef Gastón Javier—a South Florida native with experience apprenticing under Michelin-starred masters—has spent the past year shaping The Social Club’s culinary direction. Alongside newly appointed Director of Restaurants & Bars, Luis Rios, who brings two decades of luxury dining expertise, they have crafted a menu and beverage program that embrace the region’s rich flavors while complementing Miami’s sophisticated yet dynamic dining scene.
“The Social Club’s transformation is an ode to the effortless elegance of the South of France while maintaining the inviting, convivial energy that has made it a Miami Beach favorite,” said Mohan Koka, General Manager of Kimpton Surfcomber Hotel. “We’re thrilled to unveil this next chapter, offering guests a destination that is as stylish as it is inviting.”
A Fresh New Vibe, With A French Twist
Stepping into The Social Club is like being transported to the sun-drenched shores of the French Mediterranean. Designed by the award-winning design firm, Powerstrip Studio, the newly renovated Social Club embraces a cinematic approach to design, weaving together elements of Art Deco grandeur and Riviera charm.
A striking new bar crafted by Earth Sourced Design, commands attention with its deep Prussian blue fluted wood accented with real brass mesh and intricate pipework—a tribute to the opulence of the Art Deco era. The inviting bar and lounge area set the tone for a lively yet refined social scene, complete with high-top communal tables designed for gathering over expertly crafted cocktails and indulgent small plates.
At the heart of the restaurant, a grand credenza crafted from French Maple wood, showcases an exquisite wine collection, adding both function and artistry to the space. Tables made from Italian Carrara marble, traditional French bistro legs and comfortable wicker sofas inspired by centuries-old French wickerwork further amplify the Mediterranean ambiance. A curated collection of collage artwork by local artist Kimberly Welbaum, known as Cutmepasteme, adorns the walls, drawing inspiration from the eclectic and avant-garde spirit of the French art scene. Tying past and present together, the venue’s original 1940s terrazzo floors remain intact, their storied patterns lending a touch of historic charm to this newly envisioned space.
A Refined Yet Socially Inspired Culinary Experience
The Social Club’s reimagined menu showcases a fresh, ingredient-driven take on French Mediterranean cuisine, blending bold coastal flavors with a modern, lighter approach suited to Miami’s tropical climate. At its heart, the dinner experience celebrates sharing, with elevated small plates inspired by the Mediterranean tradition of convivial dining. Mirroring the Spanish tapas-style approach, these vibrant dishes invite guests to mix, match, and explore bold flavors in a relaxed yet refined atmosphere.
Standout shareable options include Caracoles, a luxurious take on Burgundy snails with torchio pasta in creamy pistou, The Pearl, a seared diver scallop paired with heirloom corn custard and Nueske bacon, and Le Bufala, a bison short rib with forest mushroom farro risotto and heirloom tomato jam. Complementing these plates are fresh and flavorful salads like the Burrata Salad, featuring asparagus, cucumber, pistachios, and arugula with basil pesto. An assortment of artfully curated boards also encourages communal dining, such as the Mezzo Board, a Mediterranean-inspired spread of pimento hummus, pistachio-mint whipped feta, avocado tzatziki, and za’atar pita, or the Charcuterie Board, featuring a chef-curated selection of fine meats, cheeses, and seasonal accompaniments.
For those looking to indulge further, The Social Club’s signature entrées highlight the best of land and sea. Guests can savor the Snapper en Papillote, featuring Florida yellowtail delicately baked with lemon, haricot vert, and artichoke hearts, or the Steak Frites, a Provence-style coulotte sirloin served with truffled bistro fries and Choron Béarnaise.
Brunch at The Social Club balances indulgence with refinement, offering vibrant flavors and playful twists on classic dishes. Standout offerings include the 7 Seas Benedict, featuring Maryland jumbo lump crab, lobster, and mango hollandaise, and The Shorty, slow-braised short rib with merlot lacquer and house-made chimi hollandaise. Other favorites include the Croque Monsieur, elevated with Havarti, Comté, Gruyère, and Mornay sauce, and theJohnny Cash, a bold dish featuring corn custard pancakes topped with jumbo lump crab and smoked gouda.

This intimate experience celebrates Miami’s deep Latin influences while maintaining the restaurant’s focus on bold flavors and refined presentations.
